With the rule of eligibility being 25 years after the release of an act's first album or single, modern-rock acts are finally starting to make their way into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. U2 were inducted in 2005, R.E.M. got in this past March and the Beastie Boys have just been nominated to enter in 2008. Meanwhile, a slew of big bands that got started in the '80s like Red Hot Chili Peppers and Metallica look like shoo-ins in the coming few years, while '90s groups like Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Green Day should all have a good shot, as well. That raises the question about modern-rock acts who have primarily made their mark in the last decade:
| Linkin Park | | 23% |
| System of a Down | | 14% |
| Nickelback | | 36% |
| Papa Roach | | 11% |
| Kid Rock | | 16% |
